Two distinct paths

Choose the structured skills lab, or the open-ended research track.

One builds concrete bench technique from scratch. The other turns a student's own question into a presentable body of research. Both are led by PhD scientists with 25+ years at the bench.

Program 1

3-Week Intensive Hands-On Fall Research Lab

Structured technical mastery.

100% in-person, immersive laboratory blocks using industry-standard instrumentation.

Perfect for students wanting to build concrete laboratory skills from scratch - from sterile technique and micropipetting through PCR, transformation, and SDS-PAGE.

  • Twelve documented techniques across four disciplines
  • Weekend or weekday cohorts, two sessions per week
  • $1,500 full program fee, due upon acceptance

About CSCRI

Do not just read about science. Experience it firsthand.

CalScience Center for Research and Innovation LLC (CSCRI) is a premier biotechnology training hub in Mountain View with a clear mission. We transition beyond textbook theory to immerse high schoolers (9th-12th graders) in engaging, hands-on lab work using professional equipment.

Guided by elite scientific mentorship, students develop core practical competencies in precision pipetting, PCR design, and protein analysis, allowing them to gather real experimental data, explore sophisticated project pathways, and build a standout academic resume.

Elite PhD Mentorship

Learn directly from established PhD scientists with 25+ years of active research.

Advanced Molecular Curriculum

Laboratory safety plus techniques drawn from molecular biology, microbiology, biochemistry, and genetic engineering.

Professional Equipment Mastery

Hands-on time with industry-standard laboratory instrumentation, not classroom simulations.

College & Resume Advantage

Build a standout academic narrative that elevates your college applications.

Balance the rotor

An unbalanced centrifuge is the fastest way to wreck a run. Load opposing wells in pairs — the same habit students build on day one at the bench.

Enrollment

Reserve a bench before the cohort fills.

Batch sizes are capped so every student gets instrument time rather than a seat in a demo audience.

Flexible schedules

Pick your cohort
